Matches in Week 4 resulted in two 6-4 matches and two at 10-0.

Experienced Greenleys Warriors played promoted club-mates Vanguards. The evening started with Vanguards’ Nayan Pattni beating Darren Ward, who then recovered from losing the first two games to beat Mateusz Browarnik in the final game and in the last set of the night let slip a two-game lead against Elroy Edwards before winning the final game. Shirish Rai lost to Elroy in straight games and then to Nayan in 4, before beating Mateusz in 4. Ameya Phatak started off with easy wins against Elroy and Mateusz but having won the first game, lost to Nayan who completed his first maximum in this division. Elroy’s only win came against Shirish. Ameya and Darren had won the doubles.

Leighton Buzzard Generations, without Ian Musk, were unable to record a win at home against Greenleys Monarchs. Martin Hall had the toughest night, beating Fabrice Spelta and Tim Cheek in 5 games before beating Graham Cook in 4. Ed Simms and David Tiplady had much easier wins against Fabrice, Tim and Graham, each only losing one game on the night.

Perhaps surprisingly, division leaders MK Spinners struggled to beat Greenleys Glory 6-4. Alan Cherry continued his unbeaten start to the season with his 4th treble, having yet to drop a game. Jecu Aurelian lost to Dakshin Thopay in 4 games, before beating Scott Dixon and Lewis Copp. Gareth Jones had a tough night, losing all 3 sets. Alan and Jecu also maintained their unbeaten doubles pairing for their 4th win, against Dakshin and Lewis. For Glory, Dakshin won 2, while Scott and Lewis each won once.

Open University Primes were home to Yardley Titans but the combined efforts of Patrick Wong, Andy Tan and Nicolas Wong were only able to win two games on the night against Adrian Piotrowski, Nick Howard and Ricky Taiwo. With 11 points from their opening 4 matches, it seems that the Primes are in for a tough season.

The top of the division is already hotting up. Spinners are top of the division, but only 3 points ahead of the Titans, who in any event have played one match fewer. Next week’s match between Yardley Titans and MK Spinners may well lead to a change at the top.
