Here We Go Again!

A new season, and Division 2 is back up to eight teams (from seven, last season).  From last season, D2 champions, Greenleys Princes, went up to Division 1, as did runners-up Leighton Buzzard Van Hire via merging with their relegated Premier team, Avengers, whilst D2 bottom team, Milton Keynes Cavaliers, dropped back down to Division 3.  Meanwhile, Division 2 gained four teams, with three coming down from D1 - Milton Keynes Powers, Newport Pagnell Lagondas and Leighton Buzzard Spitfires, and one team, Greenleys Moghuls coming up from D3.  The four teams remaining in the Division from last season are Little Horwood Wooden Tops, Mursley Hawks, Woburn Sands Mosquitoes and Open University Shockwaves.

Early season form has seen a perhaps surprising leading team after three weeks, as last season's sixth-placed Shockwaves lead by a point, following wins against Powers (7-3), Hawks (9-1), then a draw versus Spitfires.  Just a point back are Mosquitoes, with two 8-2 wins against Hawks and Wooden Tops, although a 4-6 loss to third-placed Spitfires.  Third and fourth placed teams, Spitfires and Lagondas, both remain unbeaten, with two wins and one draw for Spitfires, and one win and two draws for Lagondas, with Spitfires having beaten Wooden Tops (7-3) to add to their two results as per above, whilst Lagondas have won against Moghuls (6-4) and drawn with Powers and Hawks.  Moghuls are currently in fifth place, with a win against Wooden Tops (6-4) and a draw versus Powers to add to above, whilst sixth-placed Powers are one of three teams yet to record a win, with two draws and one loss.  Wooden Tops are in seventh after three losses, but stay one point ahead of Hawks, who have had two big losses plus one draw.

In the individual Averages, the five currently unbeaten players are all Players who have moved up from last season's Division 3, with Marshall Domingo and Aaron Moore from Moghuls, plus Edward Lock from Spitfires, all still 100% after two appearances, whilst unbeaten after just one appearance are Robert Mungham of Mosquitoes and Michael Zhao of Shockwaves.  Heading the players who've played three matches, and with seven wins from nine, are the trio of Rob McPheat of Mosquitoes, Yongwang Tian of Lagondas and Tiger Tan of Shockwaves.

This week will see Wooden Tops take on Shockwaves, Hawks entertaining Powers, Mosquitoes at home to Moghuls and Spitfires hosting Lagondas.
