Brian Rainbird - Obituary and Funeral Arrangements
It is with sadness that I have to report that Brian Rainbird, a former league player for over 30 years passed away on 22nd January. In the late 1990s he formed a team with Andy Palmer, Colin Haddon and Derek Wymer at the Kingston table tennis centre and they played together for almost 15 years. He also served on the Milton Keynes club committee between 2007 and 2009. Brian and Andy then joined Mursley table tennis club around 2010 as part of the Swallows team run by Peter Sear before moving to the Magpies team for his last couple of seasons at Mursley. Around the same time, Brian also moved to the Shenley Wood retirement village and as someone who was always very enthusiastic about table tennis he helped with setting up a table tennis club at the Village in 2018 and they entered a team of which Brian was a member for a couple of seasons up to 2020. Brian was a very caring man and if anyone needed help, he was always there to assist until in later years he had to take a back seat as his health deteriorated.
Brian’s funeral will take place on Wednesday 18th February at 10.45am in the Oak Chapel at Crownhill Crematorium for those wishing to attend. This will be followed by a Wake at the Shenley Wood Retirement Village on Chalkdell Drive, MK5 6GJ. Donations in Brian’s memory can be made to The Alzheimer’s Society.
