Princes Maintain Lead

My second “Roundup” of the season, covering weeks 7-10 of the League season in Division 2.

Despite their first loss and second draw of the season, Greenleys Princes have slightly increased their lead at the top of the Division to 11 points, as their main rivals have also been dropping points to each other.  This week they returned to winning ways in style, winning 9-1 against struggling Milton Keynes Cavaliers, including maximums for Lewis Copp and Ricky Jackson, with Lewis currently topping the individual Averages.  Little Horwood Wooden Tops have moved into second spot, as they too won 9-1 this week, with Open University Shockwave on the wrong end of this result, largely thanks to three wins each from Bill Higgins and Paul Reynolds.  Woburn Sands Mosquitoes dropped down to third spot, a couple of points behind Wooden Tops, after they lost out 4-6 to Mursley Hawks, this week, with Mark Dixon scoring another maximum for Hawks.  Leighton Buzzard Van Hire have had a good period, winning all three of their matches over this four week period, including 6-4 wins over both Princes and Mosquitoes, as they have moved up to fourth spot, with a game in hand over the top three.  Hawks lie fifth after their win this week, ahead of Shockwave, who have dropped back a little, having lost all three during this period.  Cavaliers remain in seventh, although they did claim their second draw of the campaign against Hawks.

Matches coming up next week see leaders, Princes, entertain fifth-placed Hawks, fourth versus second as Wooden Tops visit Van Hire, whilst the bottom two teams face each other as Shockwave host Cavaliers. with a blank week for Mosquitoes.

Team of the Period : Leighton Buzzard Van Hire.
Player of the Period : Mark Dixon.
