Statistics for the seasons
Last season, Chris Welch added some ‘boxes’ to the league website home page providing statistics for the player(s) with the most deciding games (i.e. 5th game) and most deuce wins during the season and also the game with the highest number of points scored. Chris had seen something similar on another league’s website and thought that these might be of interest to players in MKTTL.
I liked the idea and suggested some other possible stats which could receive similar treatment. Chris has now added boxes for the most combined points scored and the most games played in a match, as well as the most doubles wins scored by a team.
These statistics will be automatically updated as the season progresses. Similar statistics for previous seasons can be found through the ‘seasons’ tab on the website and clicking onto the relevant season, going back to 2015-16.
In general terms, an extremely close match will include 40 or more games and over 800 points, although of course there can be tricky matches with sets decided just in 3 or 4 games. As most of you will know, details like this, and the performance of individual players, are available through the ‘team’, ‘match’ and ‘players’ tabs for each match recorded on the website.
Please let either Chris or me know if these statistics are interesting and if there are any other details you would like to see. Chris tells me that the highest number of points scored by a player in a match (excluding the doubles) is an amazing 320 points, by Dan Apanna for Greenleys Monarchs against MK Walking Wounded in the 2015-16 season. Mark Cowdrey scored 297 points for Little Horwood Magpies on Monday 23rd September 2025, which triggered my enquiry about the record – only to find that this just places him 49th equal on the list!
The current ‘leaders’ for each of these statistics for complete seasons since 2015-16 are as follows:
Most deciding games won: Ricky Jackson (15/57) in 2022-23, with 31 deuce wins in individual games.
Most deuce wins: 35 by Orrin Edwards in 2024-25
Highest game points win: an astounding 34-32 by Mark Thomas against Peter Sear in 2022-23
Most combined match points: 893 between LB Crunchers and LH Frigates in 2021-22
Most games played: 47 between Greenleys Moghuls and Chackmore Wannabees in 2016-17 and between Greenleys Princes and OU Shockwave in 2024-25
Most doubles wins: 21/21 by Mursley Hawks in 2023-24, this ‘Invincibles’ record featuring 4 different pairings.
