MEAD SUPREME

Illness in the Titans squad caused the postponement of their fixture with Greenleys Warriors, which unfortunately puts the Warrior team 4 matches behind now. So, only 3 matches played in this final week of 2024 with one of them, unusually , re-arranged for the Monday of Christmas week (yesterday).

In a Greenleys derby Monarchs beat a 2-man Glory team 6-4 with all the Glory points coming from star man Ian Mead with an excellent hat-trick and the doubles set with Ian Brown. The doubles was the stand-out set with a scoreline reading 10-12, 9-11, 11-9, 12-10, 12-10.  Dave Tiplady, Dave Beddall and Martin Hall appeared for Monarchs.

Finally, with different team selection from their big squad Leighton Buzzard Generations couldn't quite produce the overwhelming form shown in their last outing (a 10-0 win over the League leaders) but nevertheless easily saw off MK Topspin 8-2 with a Tim Cheek maximum and a couple each from Hakan Karaagac and Alex Du Noyer. Great match though for Topspin's Jit Pitamber, who secured those excellent victories for his team, the win over Alex being a repeat result of the Div 1 Top 8 final from last season.

That Xmas Monday match involved MK Spinners, who grabbed the opportunity to close the gap at the top on Titans to 11 points with a 9-1 win over their bottom of the table hosts Open University Primes. Great to see Nicolas Wong back in the Primes team for this one and he duly obliged with the win, beating Adebola Odetayo. Hat-tricks for Spinners' Alan Cherry and Jecu Aurelian but zeros for Primes' Andy Tan and Ning He. Here's wishing for some Primes progress though in the Handicap Cup competition starting next month.

Player of the week : Ian Mead

Merry Christmas all.
