PREMIER DIV
CHERRY BACK ON TRACK

MK Spinners Alan Cherry was back on track this week after a rare double defeat last time out. With Jecu Aurelian also chipping in with a treble and taking the doubles set with Alan, the League leaders ran out comfortable 7-3 winners against Greenleys Warriors, Bad night though Gary Jones who came away with a blank. Ricky Taiwo, Darren Ward and Shrishlal Basant Rai played for Warriors.

MK Titans demolition of club-mates Phoenix takes them to within a point of Spinners, and, with a match in hand, this looks to be a commanding position for the new MK club side. Maximums for Nick Howard, Craig Brown and Matthew Horrocks. Zeros for Mervyn Phillips, Iaon Constantin and Div 1 sub Sarah Hudson. No sets went to a decider but Sarah and Matthew fought out the longest Premier game so far at 38 points. It may have been a straight games victory for Matthew but with the score-line reading 11-9, 14-12 & 20-18 it was mighty close too.

There’s no stopping Greenleys Glory’s star turn Ian Mead with another maximum this week in the Friday match at Leighton Buzzard Generations as the two sides fought out a draw. Glory topped up the points with wins from James Lovelock, on debut, and Scott Dixon. For Generations Hakan Karaagac and Ben Rolfe hit a brace each and took the doubles between them. Div 1 sub Iko Jacob was the other Generations man.

The match between Greenleys Monarchs and MK Sasaki has been postponed with no new date arranged to date.

DIVISION 1
HANDY HARDY SEALS AVENGERS VICTORY

Three 9-1 result this week ensured the status quo at the top as MK Topspin and Open University Primes continue to dominate and the opening week leaders, MK Sharks, moved up to 3rd spot, following 3 consecutive defeats that saw them tumbling down the table. And 8 players hit hat-tricks for the winning sides, more than any week so far.

My Topspin team were victorious against Leighton Buzzard Van Hire with hat-tricks from Jit Pitamber and me plus a brace from Russell Penn, Fabrice Spelta denying Russell his own maximum with a 13-11 in the 5th game success. Mateusz Browarnik and Sophie Storey also played for Van Hire.

Open University Primes, hot on Topspin’s heels, emulated the score-line against MK Pumas, who struck early when taking the opening set with a 4-game win by Adam Snowdon over James Zeng. But then the Primes took control and rolled out winners in the remaining sets. Hat-tricks for Patrick Wong and Andy Tan, zeros for Julie Snowdon and Chris Belton.

Back to form Sharks demolished Greenleys Princes by the same score. Sarah Hudson joined Rupert Greyling on a maximum with Derick Rodrigues missing out this time when comprehensibly beaten by Saravana Kumar. Gary Viner and div 2 sub Daniel Carter completed the Princes team this time.

The one close match between Chackmore Hasbeens and Leighton Buzzard Avengers proved to be a cracker with the visitors snatching victory in the very last set when Hasbeen’s Bub Burman succumbed to the tireless Richard Hardy. Richard had earlier beaten Sam Willett and div 4 sub James Beckett, as did Alex Du Noyer, leaving Steve Jordan winless on the night. However, as always, the doubles went to the Hasbeens side with Bub and James winning in straight games against Richard and Alex.
