MK Centre’s Summer League programme came to an end on Monday with the final round of matches and Warriors emerging as champions for the first time. Congratulations go to Ricky Taiwo and his cohorts on a fine campaign. Jacob Midson’s Towcester side won in Division 2 for a well-earned promotion to the top flight.

The current format of a five set 2-a-side competition started in 2011 with a ‘best of 5 games’ set structure and changed to ‘best of 7 games’ 2 years later to allow participants more playing time.

Previous title holders have been :

2011 Spinners
2012 Spinners
2013 London Lads
2014 London Lads
2015 Walking Wounded
2016 Sasaki
2017 Howsmall
2018 Howsmall
2019 Howsmall
2020 no competition (covid affected)
2021 truncated competition (covid affected)
2022 Spinners

Super stat: Craig Brown holds the all-time record for highest number of consecutive Singles wins with 59. Surely never to be beaten?

Many thanks as always to Keith Thompson and Alan Cherry for facilitating this friendly competition. The serious (Winter League) stuff starts next week. Bring it on!!
