Monarchs halt Titans March in a late night draw!

Unless something dramatic happens, it looks like the three title challengers are going to be Spinners, Monarchs and Titans.
Titans lead the way on 69 points, the same number as Spinners but with a game in hand (vs Monarchs), and the Monarchs are 17 points adrift of the Titans having played one game less, and two games less than the Spinners.
Hosts for the evening were the typical Nick Howard, Craig Brown and Guy Sparrow.
Making a very surprise appearance was Monarchs captain, Martin Hall, who hasn’t been seen in this fixture since the 2021/22 season with Dave Tiplady taking his place in each of the three match’s last season.
Joining Martin was Dave Beddall and Tomak Nowakowski.
Martin got the Monarchs off to a dream start in a 3-0 win over Guy and it looked like Dave would heap on the pressure when leading Craig 2-1 in the second match. Brown fought back to take it in 5 to keep things level.
One way hitting from Tomek as he beat Howard 3-0, but couldn’t quite help Dave to the doubles, as the pairing of Howard and Brown ground out a 3-2 win.
That makes it 7 from 8 in the doubles for these two, and you have to go back to the opening day of the season to chalk up their sole loss (to Ian Mead and Jacob Midson).
Shockwaves reverberated around the MK Centre as a well-rested Martin took full advantage against “average leading”, Craig, winning in three straight sets!
Tomek did the same to Guy and Dave almost got the better of Howard in match 7, but some big hitting in the 5th saw the Titans captain cling on to a vital point.
Craig couldn’t hold off the Tomek train as he went down in 4 close ends, and Martins run ended to Howard in similar fashion.
To finish things off, Guy turned on the flare against Dave winning in 3 straight to ensure that the Titans still remain unbeaten for the time being!
A result that will disappoint both teams just goes to show how close the league can be.
