Tim Cheek writes .....
Spinners continued their late season rally with an 8-2 success at Vikings.
A rearranged order to allow Gary Jones to leave early to deal with the needs of his Dog and to catch the end of Dortmund v Spurs meant a pleasantly early start.
First up Gary beat Ollie Horswell in 3 tight legs. Then he came from 2 down to take Colin Huang to a deciding leg. However Colin was too strong at the end. Gary then beat Ricky Taiwo to leave them at 2-2 for the Season.
Colin beat Tim Cheek in 4 sets to leave the match evenly poised at 2-2.
However Spinners then won all six remaining games.
Firstly Alan Cherry beat Ricky in 4 sets, then Tim beat Ollie 3-0.
Performance of the night was Alan beating Colin 3-0, leaving Colin shaking his head with no idea how to counter Alan’s magic spell.
Tim then beat Ricky in 4 sets in a battling match, and Ollie put up a strong performance against Alan but ultimately succumbed in 4 sets.
Finally Alan and Tim defeated Colin and Ollie in the doubles.
Despite the early start, it was still a late finish with the other tables long since cleared.
