I arrived late to the match, so I missed the start of John Bradley's first game against Colin Beckett and by the time I got there, John was 2-0 up; he won the third 11-4. Chris Paddon, in his debut as a full player for us, was next up against James Beckett and took a 2-0 lead against James, who managed to draw level and take the fifth in a close game. I then played an in-form Andrew Vicentijevic and though I won in three, I could (and possibly should) have lost at least one of them.

John and I played doubles against the Beckett brothers and though we lost the first one, we managed to take it 4-1 (which frankly surprised me - although we were a good doubles pairing last year, James and Colin always play good doubles).

James and John then played, with John proving the summer break had done him the world of good and beating James in three - one of the best I've seen him play for a long time; Cavaliers were now 4-1 up. I played Colin next in a five-leg thriller that alternated winners all the way through - luckily for me I won the first, third and fifth legs. Andrew and Chris Paddon then played, with Chris taking a 2-0 lead, losing the third and winning the fourth to put Cavaliers 6-1 ahead.

The final round of games were all one-way traffic though, with James beating me in four, though I didn't play too badly, James was better than me on the night, Andrew pulled off the result of the evening, beating John 3-0 and Chris was disappointed after going into a 2-0 lead against Colin, then losing the final three legs.
