PREMIER ROUND-UP WEEK 14

HUDSON MAKES IT COUNT THIS TIME

Sarah Hudson fell foul of the League regulations last week and had a Premier win chalked off the record books when ‘playing up’ for MK Kingpins. But, undaunted, she was back again this week to notch up a legitimate win for Kingpins in their 4-6 defeat to Greenleys Kings. Her victim was Jordan Wood in a rare all female Premier encounter, last time 2 girls faced each other being in 2011 when Sarah, in her MK Stormers heyday, beat Charlotte Binley. Dave Allison completed the scoring for Kingpins with a great hat-trick when beating Nick Howard (deuce in 5th), Guy Sparrow and Jordan. Dave is enjoying a rich vein of form at present, unlike long term team-mate Mark Purcell who, although he had his moments, drew a blank here.

MK Sasaki’s Jamie Hendy goes from strength to strength with another superb performance, this time with a hat-trick in a 6-4 against Greenleys Monarchs impressive line-up of Bogdan Capusa (referred to as Bogdan Boghi last week), Dan Appanna and Tomek Nowakowski with only a single game dropped. A brace for Matt Haynes and a doubles win for the unbeaten Haynes/Michael Wilkins combination secured the victory.

Bottom placed MK Spinners kept faith with an unchanged side from last week’s blackwash and were rewarded with a 9-1 win over promoted team Greenleys Warriors, Spinners second win of the season with the previous one also against Warriors. Ricky Taiwo spoiled an otherwise clean Spinners’ sheet with a gritty 5-game win over Gary Jones. A delighted Tim Cheek called this night “a rare bright spot in what has been an annus horribilis for Spinners” and I just hope that he got the spelling right. Neil Massa joined Tim on a maximum as Warriors Ollie Horswell and Iain Lindsay (‘playing up’ from div 1) remained winless.

Player of the week is Jamie Hendy.
