Another difficult match for Vantage, with Tony Ardis still not fully fit. Steve Peak from division 3 team Vanquish took his place and played well, but found the jump in standard a bit much to cope with.
James Molloy continued his good form for Data, beating each of the home players without dropping a leg, with Steve coming closest in losing 9-11, 12-14, 5-11. James was well supported by Darren Ward, who also secured a maximum. However he had to dig deep in the final set to stave off a strong challenge from Vantage's Mike Howard. This was the only singles to go to the final leg and Darren found some excellent shots to take the last few points to win it 11-7.
Rob McPheat was the only Data player to drop a singles set, losing his first one of the night to Sue Lewsi. After going 2 legs down, Rob came back well to take the thirds 12-10. The 4th leg also went to deuce and Sue felt herself fortunate to win it 14-12 and take the set .Rob also had a tough set against Mike, with each of the legs being decided by just 2 points, with Rob taking the set with a 12-10 win in the 4th leg. His final set, against Steve, also went to 4 legs with Rob taking the 4th 11-9 to secure the win.
Sue and Mike have played more doubles matches this season than in the previous 2 combined, as Sue's usual partner Tony Ardis has missed a number of matches. The home side's doubles strength showed itself again in this match, as Sue and Mike came back from 2 legs down.to take the set 7-11, 6-11, 13-11, 12-10, 11-8. Newport Pagnell's Club night was taking place in the hall and several of the Club players stopped their games to watch the douobles, giving a cheer when Sue and Mike secured the win. That levelled the match at 2-2, but it was the last set which Vantage won. .
