Titans close in on title in their inaugural season for MK
Usual faces, usual places and usual scores for this one!
Nick, Craig and Guy hosted Alan, Jecu and Gary as 1st played 3rd on a crucial night in MK.
Jecu has been in imperious form with his new bat in recent weeks, notching up notable wins over Alex Meade and Dave Tiplady in the process.
But with the title on the line, Howard found just enough to squeak past the Spinner in 4 close ends.
Alan was in no mood to waste any time dispatching Sparrow in 3 quick ends, before Craig got things back on track with a good 3-1 over a very punchy Jones.
It must be noted that Brown pulled off a worldy of a shot to recover from a short net ball from Jones, and like an excited Maine Coon (big domestic cat for those who aren’t up on their feline friends) pounced on the opportunity for a great save - One I’m sure we’ll all hear about for many weeks/years to come…..
The doubles of Nick and Craig vs Gary and Alan went the full distance, and despite leading in the 5th, the Spinner pair couldn’t hold off the rampant Titans as they closed it out 12-10 for a very important win.
Jecu regained form against Guy in a 3-1 and Howard’s bogey man (Jones) did the same against the Howard Captain, despite giving away big leads in each end.
Craig got the all important scalp of Alan in 4 very tight ends in what was their 406th match (records are sketchy here…..).
Guy secured the draw as he wasted no time in taking care of Gary and Craig was unstoppable in a 3-0 demolition of Jecu to guarantee the win.
Howard was down and out against Cherry in the final match, but somehow found a way to bring it back to 2-2. But as is the way with Alan, it’s never really won until it’s won and despite getting to 9 first, Cherry fought back to take it 11-9 in a very late finish!
With Monarchs only managing a 5-5 draw with stablemates Warriors, it leaves Titans 9 points clear with just 3 matches to play.
