History makers as Titans seal the MK Premier Division in style!

MK Titans secured the Premier Division in style with a 10-0 whitewash over struggling Sasaki.
Sasaki could only muster two players for the night (Wilkins and Liang), so in stepped super sub Abhay Tijare who doubled up on the evening.
It is hugely appreciated by all involved when teams can field three players where possible, and even if that means calling up someone from a lower division, it makes a big difference (not so lucky on the adjacent table when Glory and Spinners had last minute drop outs on both sides!)
A shout out to the many players who have ensured Sasaki can put out three people most nights despite their troubles.
Michael Wilkins, Noah Levens, Clare Styles, Jitan Pitamber, Andy Smith, Minesh Pitamber, William Kit Liang, Rupert Greyling, Mervyn Kelly, Abhay Tijare and Paul Tompkins.
Doubles aside, there were no signs of an upset on the cards.
Michael managed an end of Guy, but that was his only bright moment in a 3-1 loss followed by 3-0 losses to Nick and Craig.
Abhay couldn’t quite get on the board despite some excellent aggression - The step up between Div 1 and the Prem is quite a brutal one!
William played excellent all night, but could just manage the 1 end from every Titan. His serve letting him down at crucial points.
Which left Nick and Craig to muddle through the doubles in a 3-2 win and 10-0 on the night.
With Monarchs only managing 6 against Leighton Buzzard, that gives Titans a winning margin of 11 points and with 157 points on the season the 3rd highest score since the MKTTL website was created (1st goes to Monarchs in 16/17 with 163 followed by Spinners in 15/16 with 160).
I’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Guy Sparrow who is taking an indefinite break from Table Tennis related activities….. I’ve played with Guy since 2016 and he has been an ever present force in virtually every match in that time - Not least across the last 4 seasons where he has been a major contributor to the 3 Premier Titles.
Also a big thank you to my MK Titans team of Craig Brown, Guy Sparrow and Matthew Horrocks - Always a pleasure teaming up with you!

And finally, a huge shout out to the many volunteers, organisers, players and supporters of the MK League.
There are far too many to list, but all of your hard work, time and dedication is absolutely magical!

You all make this the premier league to play in, and it is very much appreciated by all involved.
Have an amazing summer, and we’ll see you for the 2024/25 season before you know it!
