EASY FOR SPINNERS AS TOPSPIN SET NEW AGE RECORD
We were delighted to give a Topspin debut to Mike Ainsworth this week and despite acquitting himself well he was no match for the 7 times League champions. This was the story of the night as the closest we got to winning a set was when I took a game off Gary Jones, although Russell Penn did once hold a game point over Tim Cheek. One way traffic really with Spinners skipper Alan Cherry never needing to get out of first gear.
Still. It was a painless execution and we all got home in plenty of time to watch the Carabao Cup highlights on Quest.
Topspin did set a record though for the oldest aggregate age for a team competing in a Premier match, with well over 200 years between us. Some records though to try to avoid this season will be - most 10-0 losses (held by Powers with 9) and lowest number of points (also held by Powers with 20). A big ask.
