IT’S A BOY !

In Russell Penn’s continued absence, Topspin were delighted to give a match to MK Classics’ Dylan Cox from Div 2.  Dylan is a terrific impact player, though not this time, who did well for us last season ‘playing up’ and, of course, made his own Premier debut only last week representing tonight’s opponents against MK Powers.

Disappointingly, Spinners only fielded 2 players themselves, hense oue 3 walk-over wins.  Alan Cherry cried off sick and absentee Gary Jones became a first time father minutes before the match was due to start (mother and baby doing well).  Rumours that he is to be named Harry Kane are as yet unconfirmed.  So that left Tim Cheek and Neil Massa from their 4-man squad.  While I was begging someone, anyone, from a lower Division match at the TT Centre to ‘play up’ for them in order to improve our individual averages, Tim was cajoling both Alan and Gary to turn out for them in a hectic period just before kick-off.  All to no avail.

The match itself lacked both excitement and incident.  I was slaughtering Neil for two and a half games but he came back strongly to win.  Mervyn Kelly also took a game off him and generally played well.  Tim ‘parked the bus’ as usual and attacked almost faultlessly when the opportunities arrived, and was on a 'high' anyway from his heroics of Sunday.  It’s not just Gary that’s due congratulations but also Tim, as he captained the High Wycome team to success in the annual Bucks Inter-League team competition, forcing our own MK side, led by Alan Cherry, into 2nd place.

So , congratulation again to Tim,  and especially to Gary.
