Match reports
Weeks beginning 17th November 2003 and 1st March 2004 - by Dave Murphy
AHW Newarks were in action recently in Division Five of Milton Keynes Table Tennis League. Newarks, who are in fourth place of the division, faced MK Kaos, who are sitting behind in fifth. The team of Derek Wymer, Glenn Rudd and Colin Haddon took on Shimon Arkin, Stuart Tate and Henry Kafeman. Wymer was the weakest link for Newarks, when he lost all three, but it was Colin Haddon who held the team together with a maximum. Arkin, of Kaos, took Haddon to the fifth game, but couldn't prevent him winning 11-4. Rudd won two matches but lost out on a maximum against Kafeman in the fifth, 7-11. With Arkin and Tate winning one each and Kafeman winning two, they lost out on the doubles to see Newarks win 6-4.
Newarks' next match saw them against Greenleys Knights, who are second bottom. Haddon continued his good form and won another maximum and was well supported by team mate Glenn Rudd, with a treble as well. Derek Wymer won one but lost out to Richard Pitman and Hamid. Unfortunately Chris Welch was the only player not to win any, but was probably due to his constant effort in running the league web site (or it maybe an excuse.) Welch lost to Haddon in straight games in the tenth match to see Newarks win 8-2.
