Match Report  (courtesy of Martin Johnson)

Woburn Sands Mosquitoes had started off their season in the higher division with two wins, and were hopeful of extending that run as they entertained Mursley Hawks, who'd both won and lost one.

Ace defender, Paul Hamer openend against Hawks' captain, Martin Johnson, and Martin's attack was on fire in games 1 and 2, however, Paul stuck to his game and battled for every point, and as Paul
started to get more back and Martin started to miss, he edged his way back into the set, sneaking games 3 and 4, to take it to the decider.  The pattern continued, with Paul just keeping his nose in front,
and with a touch of luck at the end (which probably didn't change the outcome), came through to win in five legs.  Andy Jenkins extended the home team advantage, with a straight games win over Andy
Palmer, substituting up for the second time.  Glenn Barcham then went two games up against Hawks' other substitute, Peter Sear, but Peter battled back, and much as Paul had done for Mosquitoes in
the opening set, sneaked the next three legs, to make it two comebacks from 2-0 down.  Paul and Andy J then took on the untested pairing of Martin / Andy P, but the new pairing worked a treat, as the
Hawks pair could do almost no wrong, racing to an easy three games win, to even up the match score at 2-2.

Andy J restored the home team advantage, though, as Martin could not get his attack going against the steady, close to the table style, of Andy.  Woburn stretched out their lead, as Paul just held off
Peter in four very tight games, followed by Glenn beating Andy P, also in four games, to take them into a 5-2 lead.  Once again, it was Peter stemming the flow, as he clinched a see saw five games vs
Andy J, and Martin followed it up with a more controlled attacking game, to beat Glenn in four games, to close the overall score to 5-4.  Last on it was Paul against Andy P, and although Andy took game
1, Paul just grabbed game 2, and then pulled away to win over 4 leags, and seal a third consecutive win for Mosquitoes, to keep them 2nd in the table at this early stage, whilst Hawks remain mid table.

The division seems set for lots of close games, based on the results so far.
