Readers of last week’s premier division round up would be forgiven for thinking they were reading Michael Wilkins Table Tennis Obituary.

This week proved that reports of his demise were somewhat exaggerated!

Michael won a maximum and the doubles in Sasaki’s 8-2 demolition of Spinners, including a first win in very many years over Alan Cherry and victories over Tim Cheek and Neil Massa..

The pattern of the night was set in the first game. Alan Cherry was leading Sasaki debutant Matt Haynes 2-0 and twice had match point in the 3rd, before turning it round and winning 11-9 in the 5th.

Although Neil got Spinners on the board with a 3-0 win over Jamie Hendy, things pretty much went Sasaki’s way after that. The doubles also went to 11-9 in the 5th, and Alan got Spinners other win against Jamie.

Lot’s of good games and many exceptional points, but Sasaki were too strong.

Sasaki must be considered title favourites.
