Tim Cheek writes ...

Dan Smalley led his Sasaki team to a 6-4 win over title rivals Spinners. This has increased their lead from 2 points to 4 points with 4 matches to go.

It was an evening of fluctuating fortunes, which started really well for Spinners with Tim Cheek beating Matthew Horrocks and then Alan Cherry beating Dakshin, both 3-0.

Dan Smalley then beat Gary Jones 3-0 to get Sasaki on the board.

Games 4 to 7 were all seen as games that could go either way, but Sasaki won them all!

Fist Dan and Matt combined to win the doubles in 4 sets against Alan and Gary. Then Dakshin beat Tim in 4 sets. Matt then beat an out of sorts Gary 3-0, and finally in what was seen as the pivotal match, Dan beat Alan in 4 sets.

Sasaki were right on top at this point and a 7-3 win was on the cards. However Gary then dug deep and found his form to beat a not 100% Dakshin in 4 sets for a crucial win.

Dan then returned to beat Tim and finally Alan beat Matt to make the final score 6-4 to the leaders.

Strangely not and single game went to 5, all 6 players won at least 1 match.

Everything is still very much to play for!
